All you need to do is anticipate their argument and prepare a rebuttal. For example, people who are against banning animal testing say that animal testing is important for the advancement of science. I know this because I conducted research on both sides of the argument.

This means that you need to know the people that you are dealing with. Who is it that you want to persuade? What is their argument? What do they believe in? Why do they believe in it?

You may think that these questions are not important but they are. It is only by answering these questions that you can hope to know the way your audience thinks. Once you know this, it is only a matter of time (and practice) before you persuade your audience.

>> Lead the readers.

I mean lead them toward your point of view. You cannot just present your perspective and hope that everyone agrees.

You need to draw a roadmap for your readers so that they are slowly but surely led toward your point. Also, organize. Organize your essay in such a way that your readers are led from one point to the other. Write an intro.

Then start every body paragraph with words like firstly, secondly…

Use transitions. Sum up everything so that your readers don't forget your points.
