Elon Musk has accused the Anti-Defamation League (ADL), a leading Jewish organization in the US, of being a “hate group” against Christians and implied it promotes violence. On Sunday night, Musk responded on his social media platform X to an anti-immigrant account, saying, “The ADL hates Christians, therefore it is a hate group.” He added that labeling people and organizations falsely encourages murder.

Musk’s statements came after the ADL highlighted racist and extremist remarks made by members of Charlie Kirk’s group, Turning Point USA (TPUSA). The ADL had previously defended Musk against antisemitism accusations following his controversial gestures at Trump’s inauguration.

ADL CEO Jonathan Greenblatt rejected Elon Musk claims, stating the organization works with many Christians in the fight against antisemitism and hate. The ADL’s critical report on TPUSA cited multiple incidents involving racist and extremist behavior by its leaders and members.

Elon Musk attacks indicate a deterioration in his recently improved relationship with the ADL, which had supported him despite ongoing backlash over his amplification of far-right content. The ADL has faced internal challenges, including staff resignations after praising Musk’s efforts to moderate pro-Palestinian content on X despite his controversial statements and incidents involving his AI chatbot promoting Nazi imagery.

This tension reflects broader controversies surrounding Elon Musk influence on social media and the ADL’s evolving approach to combating extremism amid changing leadership and political pressures.
