Most people have experienced headaches and have them from time to time. They may be associated to a change in the weather or from a cold or flu. Can you imagine having a headache every day? Not just the odd one?

A headache is a warning sign to us that something is wrong, whether it is of a vascular, musculoskeletal, neurological or a psychological origin. A chronic headache usually originates from more than one cause and involves multiple systems.

Those that suffer from Chronic Headaches can experience headaches 15 or more days per month, ranging from short to long lasting.

A general first reaction when experiencing a headache is to take an Advil or Tylenol, which in many cases, will ease the pain. However, when you are taking pain medication daily, your body starts to produce rebound headaches from overuse.

If you are suffering from Chronic Headaches, don’t let it take a hold of your life anymore.

Nib3 is here for you. We provide free consultations to learn more about you, the condition, and possible root causes. From there we will decide on what works best for you and dedicate a specific program to eliminate the contributions and regulate any dysfunctions that may be occurring.

Our Approach

Based on a survey done by the World Health Organization (WHO), tension-type headaches (TTH) and migraine type headaches are the second and third most prevalent disorders world-wide. Chronic headaches have shown to have immense negative impact on an individual’s life including higher rates of disability, and reduced quality of life (Lai, T., et al, 2015). This is often characterized by pain around the head, pain that varies from mild to moderate on both sides of the head, all of which are frequently caused by stress, depression, anxiety and/or lack of sleep. Researchers hypothesize the pain to be rooted in the over-activation of the spinal cord and brain stem neurons, which take part in pain signaling throughout the body. Hyper-activity of specific brain areas which are involved with pain processing, such as the thalamus and somatosensory cortex, is generally seen (Burstein, Noseda and Borsook, 2015). In order to eliminate excruciating discomfort such as chorionic headaches, many headache specialists in Toronto may recommend drug related therapies to minimize the symptoms. However, at NIb3, we approach chronic headaches in a non-pharmacological and non-invasive way, by using therapies such as Neurofeedback, Biofeedback & EMG training, specific brainstem stimulation, and somatosensory integration exercises.

Testimonial

I was initially reluctant to try biofeedback. After trying a few rounds of traditional therapy with very little improvement I was referred to Shai. My situation was somewhat experimental and uncharted water for both Shai and myself. I was impressed by the amount of time Shai invested learning about my condition and developing a targeted treatment plan. His concern and eagerness to find a solution were genuine and obvious.
